Former Liverpool favourite set to force Barcelona move

Pepe Reina is desperate for a return to Barcelona and he appears willing to do anything to fulfil his dream.

The 33-year-old is currently with Italian Serie A side Napoli, but he is extremely keen to make a move to Camp Nou.

So much so that he himself has approached Barcelona about a possible return so that he can fill the void left by Claudio Bravo should he move to Manchester City.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Reina has 'called the Catalan club directly, pushing himself as the best alternative to Bravo, ahead of Valencia's Diego Alves.

He is also willing to 'force his way out of Napoli and accept Barcelona's economic conditions of a lower wage.

The former Liverpool keeper came through the ranks at Barca, playing for Barcelona C, Barcelona B and the first team before moving to Villarreal in 2002.

Due to his 33 caps for Spain he has a strong relationship with a lot of the Barcelona squad as well as Luis Enrique and it is believed that Barcelona are keeping their options open in regards to Reina.

Their first choice option for their second choice keeper should Bravo leave remains Valencia's Diego Alves, but Reina would prove to be a much cheaper option.
